COGRAD is a state-of-the-art facility at the University of Manitoba committed to advancing and supporting industry and/or government mandated environmental monitoring obligations through the development of faster and cheaper analytical monitoring techniques, tools designed to delineate sources of crude oil exposures and forensic studies leading to new areas of analytical research.

Equipped with modern analytical instrumentation, COGRAD supports the environmental monitoring mandates of our clients by providing lower detection limits produced in a quality controlled setting.

Research & Development

Alongside our industrial partners, COGRAD is involved in research and development projects aimed to benefit the oil and gas industry. Projects include improving the analysis of alkylated PAHs, ‘fingerprinting’ constituents of crude oil, and development of remediative and passive sampling devices with increased efficiency for low molecular weight PAHs.

Located at the University of Manitoba, COGRAD provides an excellent
opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students to explore the areas
of environmental analytical chemistry, ecotoxicology and biochemistry in
the field of oil and gas science, while learning valuable skills for the
